Bell Spotlights Proposed Amendment Dealing With Eminent Domain
A local member of the General Assembly says he's outraged by the actions of the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority. That agency has condemned four parcels of private property near Old Dominion University. Albemarle Delegate Rob Bell (pitured) says one affected business has been operating since the 1930's. Bell authored a proposed constitutional amendment that deals with eminent domain. The proposal requires that property owners be compensated for their loss of business and prohibits the taking of private property for private use or economic development. The proposed amendment is part of the November 6th general election ballot.
Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has formally accepted the Republican nomination for Governor but he probably won't know who his ticket-mates are until Saturday evening.
