Chad Kroeger: I'm the luckiest person alive

Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger feels like the "luckiest person alive" after Avril Lavigne accepted his marriage proposal.

The couple stunned fans when they announced the wedding plans this week after a whirlwind romance which began when they teamed up to write a song for Lavigne's new album back in February.

They kept their romance out of the spotlight, but have now opened up about their love in a new interview with Canada's Hello! magazine.

The couple is seen embracing on the cover of the publication, with the "Sk8er Boi" hitmaker flashing her large diamond engagement ring. They also talk about how they fell in love while working together and Kroeger admits the studio sessions were incredibly intense.

He says, "I knew I was falling for her. It was incredibly powerful and something I'll never forget... I feel like the luckiest person alive because I get to be with my best friend every day!"

Lavigne adds, "He makes me laugh every day. He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive."

It is also revealed that Kroeger proposed in the studio by adding a page to the singer's scrapbook.

Alison Eastwood, editor-in-chief of Hello! Canada, confirms, "It happened in their recording studio. She was scrapbooking (sic) and he added a page to the scrapbook, and the page said: 'Will you marry me?'"
