The Charlottesville School Board devoted much of its Saturday to a discussion of budget reductions the division might experience in the next academic year. Superintendent Rosa Atkins (pictufred third from left) outlined her recommendations to the board members, including Colette Blount (pictured left), Jennifer McKeever (pictured second from left) and Chairman Juandiego Wade (pictured second from right). The school system could lose one of its assistant principals at Walker Upper Elementary School, and a summer school program might get scaled back.
Atkins and the school board expect to craft a preliminary budget by the end of this month, and then send it to City Manager Maurice Jones and City Council.
