SAN BERNARDINO, California (Reuters) - A fugitive former police officer whose charred remains were found in a burned-out California mountain cabin following a standoff died from a possibly self-inflicted gunshot wound, a San Bernardino County Sheriff's spokesman said on Friday.

Coroner's examiners have not yet determined who fired the shot that killed 33-year-old Christopher Dorner, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Capt. Kevin Lacy said.

"The information we have seems to indicate that the wound that took Christopher Dorner's life was self inflicted," he said.
