Ziggy Marley donates song to polio campaign

Reggae star Ziggy Marley has urged world leaders to concentrate efforts on the eradication of polio in Asia and Africa.

The son of music legend Bob Marley has teamed up with Rotary International bosses to aid their This Close to Ending Polio campaign and he has granted them permission to include his song Personal Revolution on the End Polio Now benefit album.

Explaining his attraction to the cause, Ziggy tells Essence.com, "(Rotary) is a good organisation. They're trying to help people, especially in Africa. That's a place that is very close to my heart. There are a lot of children suffering with polio there. I wanted to help."

And Marley is convinced the viral disease in places like Asia and Africa can be eradicated if world leaders work together in the battle for good health.

He says, "When it comes to Africa, I just think the leaders need to get it together. If the countries were united we wouldn't have this problem. I think the priorities are not right in terms of the leadership. Hopefully in the next generation we'll have a better situation so we can help solve this."
