Northern Virginia congressman Jim Moran is joining the the family of former President Dwight Eisenhower in objecting to the design for his memorial. Despite revisions by architect Frank Gehry, the family opposes the depiction of Eisenhower's boyhood home in the Midwest. Eisenhower's daughters say the memorial fails to emphasize his achievements as president and as World War Two military leader. Moran is asking colleagues on the memorial commission to reconsider their support and allow a public design competition.
