Our Region Continues To Tally Damages From June Storms
Our local emergency management coordinator says many people are still coping with the aftermath of the June 29th wind storms. Kirby Felts says officials are still assessing the damage to Albemarle's orchards and other local agri-businesses. Felts has learned many families who live paycheck to paycheck were vulnerable on the final Friday of the month. That's because they might not have the money to replace food that quickly spoils when toppled trees (pictured) disabled parts of the electric distribution system. Felts shared her findings Thursday with representatives of the city, county, and UVA.
