The Monticello Mustangs football team trampled George Wythe 51-12 in the WINA High School Game of the Week. It didn't take long for Monticello to get on the scoreboard as Jahlil Mosley hit James Banks for a 14 yard touchdown strike on their first possession of the game.
Monticello took advantage of short fields in the first half and jumped out to a 51-0 lead at the break behind rushing touchdowns from T.J. Tillery and Jahlil Mosley. Denzel Terry also took a punt 51 yards back to the house for a score.
QB Jahlil Mosely had an impressive night, recording 3 touchdown passes and a touchdown run in just one half of play. The Mustang defense was stout all night, forcing turnovers and holding George Wythe to just 12 points.
In other Jefferson District high school football action Friday night, R.E. Lee defeated Charlottesville 55-24, Fluvannah fell at home to Spotsylvania 10-7, and Western Albemarle got a road win against Liberty-Bealeton 21-0. Finally Louisa Co. dropped to (1-2) on the year losing to Courtland 35-6.
