Charlottesville High School hosted the Fluvanna County Flucos in their annual Homecoming game friday night and came away with a 41-28 win.The Black Knights took the field wearing special uniforms, highlighted by the words "The Ville" on their chests.
After a Fluco punt on their first drive, Charlottesville ran a double-reverse flea-flicker on their first play from scrimmage which brought them down to the two yard line. It took a fourth down run, by Chris Thurston, but the Black Knights were able to punch it in and take a 7-0 lead. That lead didn't last long however, as Quan Washington of Fluvanna ran back the kickoff 95 yards to tie the score.
A Charlottesville interception gave them a short field, and once again they were able to convert a fourth down and short to take back the lead early in the second quarter. Another interception allowed the Black Knights to drive down into the red zone, but a penalty and two fumbles, the second of which was lost, gave the Flucos the ball back without further damage.
Fluvanna had a chance to pull closer before half time, but a big run was called back because of a holding penalty, and they were forced to punt. Fluvanna had to attempt the punt twice because of a penalty, and the second try resulted in a bad snap. Charlottesville had great field position and was able to take advantage, with Darius Watson catching a TD pass again on fourth down on the last play of the half. The Black Knights then lead 21-7.
Charlottesville was able to add to their lead in the third with a touchdown by Rashard Davis, but the Flucos were able to pull back within two scores after a 15 play 80 yard drive capped off by a Devin Goode touchdown. After CHS was stopped on fourth down, Fluvanna added another touchdown on a 77 yard pass to Alec Turley. The extra point was then blocked to leave the score at 28-20.

Unfortunately for the Flucos, they couldn't stop Rashad Davis from scoring his fourth touchdown of the night on a 48-yard run to push the Black Knight lead back up to 34-20. Chris Thurston once again ran it in to push the score to 41-20 and seemingly end the Fluco threat, but another kickoff return by Quan Washington brought them back within two scores. Charlottesville was able to recover the onside kick, but fumbled soon after to give Fluvanna the ball back with less than a minute to go. It was too little too late though, as the clock ran out on the Flucos.
The win brings the Black Knights' record to 2-4 and the Flucos drop to 1-5 on the year.
