Three people were injured Monday following two separate accidents in Albemarle County. A mother and son from southwestern Virginia were injured in an accident on I-64. It happened at around 7:45 a.m. near mile-marker 109 in the Crozet area. State Police say 56-year-old Brenda Rigney of Pulaski had serious but non life-threatening injuries. Her 32-year-old son William Rigney, also of Pulaski, had minor injuries. Police say a car driven by Brenda Rigney went into the median where it hit several trees. She was charged with reckless driving. Albemarle Police say a woman had a separate single-vehicle accident Monday morning on 29 South in the North Garden area. Police say the woman's car left the highway shortly before 9:30 a.m. and flipped over. She went to a hospital with minor injuries. Both accidents tied up traffic for at least an hour.
