An accident at mile-marker 120 involving five vehicles caused a big backup on I-64 eastbound Wednesday afternoon. There were also traffic tie-ups on several roads in the city as a result. The accident happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on eastbound 64 near the 5th St. Extd. exit. That side of 64 was closed for a while, and then the left lane was reopened. The right lane was reopened at around 5:30 p.m. The accident involved a school bus, but there were no children on the bus. Traffic backups were at least three miles on eastbound I-64. There were also big delays on the 29/250 Bypass and Emmet Street as traffic moved off the interstate. Many other side streets in the city were also clogged.
