Russell Crowe wants to get 'family back together'

Russell Crowe has shut down reports he has embarked on a new romance with Billy Joel's ex-wife Katie Lee following his rumored marriage breakdown, insisting he is dedicated to keeping his family together.

The "Gladiator" star has spent a large part of 2012 on film sets far away from the Australian home he shares with his wife Danielle Spencer and their two young sons, Charles and Tennyson, and the heavy workload allegedly took its toll on his personal life, causing the couple to split in October.

Neither Crowe nor Spencer has directly addressed the break up claims, but the actor posted a telling tweet online in November, revealing he regrets taking on so many jobs back to back.

He wrote, "Starting on another film set tomorrow. I need to go home & be with my children. Cannot believe how fkd (f**ked) up my schedule has become this year."

Earlier this week, an article in the New York Post suggested Crowe had moved on from his troubled marriage and into the arms of TV chef Lee - but the actor has slammed the unfounded reports in a new Twitter post, in which he also vows to get his personal life back on track.

Crowe, who is currently filming "A Winter's Tale" in New York, writes, "As soon as I finish this job & can get home, my priority is to try to bring my family back together. These latest reports are false & cruel."

Lee and rocker Joel divorced in 2009 after five years of marriage.

Crowe wed Spencer in 2003.
