Governor McDonnell was among those affected by the dense fog that covered the region for much of the weekend. The Governor's plane was fogged in Saturday, and he wasn't able to fly to Raleigh for the public inauguration of North Carolina's new Republican Governor. McDonnell was chairman of the Republican Governors Association when Pat McCrory was elected as the Tarheel State's new Governor. McCrory has succeeded Democrat Bev Perdue, who's a Southwest Virginia native. She began life 66 years ago as Beverly Marlene Moore in Grundy.
Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has formally accepted the Republican nomination for Governor but he probably won't know who his ticket-mates are until Saturday evening.
