Police Charge Man With Assaulting Officer



Charlottesville Police have arrested a man for assaulting one of their officers.  Police say 22-year-old Mert Mafa (pictured) struck an officer who was trying to break up a fight between Mafa and another man.  The incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday in the 300-block of 2nd Street, S.E.  Police say alcohol was a factor, and Mafa was taken to the Regional Jail.
