As Virginia heads into spring football practice next month, they will be implementing a new offense, a new defense, and a new special teams philosophy. A lot of transition to say the least, but there is one question that looms even larger, the quarterback question. Michael Rocco has transferred, and the air apparent would seem to be Alabama transfer Phillip Sims. However longtime columnist for the Daily Press in the Hampton Roads area David Teel thinks otherwise. He discussed it appearing on WINA's "The Best Seat In The House" program. " I don't give the edge to Sims, I'm playing a hunch here and I think it is a very well informed hunch. Don't sleep on David Watford here, I just think Watford's work ethic, not only in the weight room, but in the film room....his locker room presence, I've just got a hunch about that young man." Teel also gave his impressions of Steve Fairchild, the new offensive coordinator at UVA. " He's a smart guy, he's gonna let the quarterbacks hash it out in spring and summer workouts and see who earns the job and picks up his offense. Clearly that is tast number one for Steve Fairchild." The interview in its entirety can be heard in the podcast section of wina.com on the Best Seat Page.
