A 40-year veteran of the State Police was fatally wounded Thursday in Dinwiddie County. Master Trooper Junius Walker (pictured) died from multiple gunshot wounds along Interstate-85. The Dinwiddie County Sheriff's Office apprehended a man who's accused of killing Walker, and he's now in State Police custody. The suspect is identified as 28-year-old Russell E. Brown of Chesterfield. State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says A Dinwiddie sheriff's deputy arrested Brown shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday:
Governor McDonnell and State Police Superintendent Steve Flaherty are mourning Walker, whose survivors include his widow and two adult daughters. Walker is the first state trooper who died in the line of duty this year.
